In a new NAHB survey, over 90% of remodelers questioned had lost business due to the pandemic. 96% of remodeling construction firms experienced a downturn in inquiries coming in and 93% experienced a reduction in the willingness of homeowners to consider remodeling projects. The survey for NAHB’s first quarter 2020 Remodeling Market Index (RMI) found that 70 of the construction firms surveyed were experiencing a major impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 80% of homeowners had concerns about interacting with construction crews. Other concerns included labor shortages, shortages of n95 masks and interruptions in the supply of building materials.
