NAHB Provides Resources for Recruitment

As the construction labor shortage continues to negatively impact the industry, the National Home Builder’s Association (NAHB) released updated resources that can be utilized as recruiting tools for the trades.

The Home Builders Institute (HBI) research shows that construction needs to attract 2.2 million workers to the industry to keep pace with projected needs through 2024.

The NAHB produced new videos which focus on drywall installation, welding, and building systems. They also updated several existing videos on HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and painting. Employers can use these videos to show potential recruits what trades involve and the benefits of the various routes into the trades.

In a nationwide effort to get more framers onto jobsites, West Fraser launched “Become a Framer”. This ongoing initiative involves recruitment efforts, outreach into schools and a $1.3 million investment with the Home Builders Institute towards training initiatives.
